Sakaro Sodo
Located in Halo-Hartume Kebele, Gedeb Woreda, Sakaro Sodo contains a collection of ancient stelae estimated to be between 800 and 2,000 years old. It is a key megalithic site of the UNESCO-registered Gedeo Cultural Landscape.
Unique Features
- This site is renowned for the sheer thickness and size of its stelae. The stones have an average thickness of 2.5 meters. The tallest stela stands at 3.5 meters, while the shortest is 1.3 meters.
2-Day Itinerary
- Day 1 (Gedeb & Sakaro Sodo): Drive from Dilla toward Gedeb Woreda. Stop in Yirgacheffe town for breakfast while enjoying views of the coffee farms. In the afternoon, walk through the coffee farms with your guide to explore Sakaro Sodo. Taste local coffee and return to Dilla for the night.
- Day 2 (Return): Travel back to Addis Ababa.
