Qamist Waterfall
Qamist/ Kamist Waterfall is a hidden gem located in the North Ari district, offering untouched natural beauty far off the beaten path.
Features
- Landscape: Tucked inside a rugged, mountainous landscape characterized by steep ridges and narrow gorges.
- The Flow: During the wet season, it cascades down the cliff face in a thunderous white torrent; in the dry season, it thins into a delicate, elegant ribbon of water.
- Freshwater: The water originates from high-altitude springs untouched by human settlement, making it exceptionally clean.
Best Time to Visit
- September to December (Highly recommended): The waterfall is robust, and the surrounding canyon is beautifully green.
- January to May: The water volume decreases, but the trail is dry, stable, and much easier to hike.
1-Day Itinerary: Kamist Waterfall
- 8:30 AM: Drive from Jinka toward the North Ari district.
- 9:15 AM: Start the hike. The trail winds through terraced farms where local farmers grow coffee, bananas, and cardamom.
- 10:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Arrive at the falls. Relax by the pool, swim in the crisp water, and enjoy birdwatching in the surrounding canopy.
- 1:30 PM: Have a packed lunch by the river.
- 3:00 PM: Walk back to the vehicle, interacting with friendly local farmers along the way.
- 5:00 PM: Return to Jinka.
