Ocho Waterfall
Ocho Waterfall is one of the premier natural tourist destinations in the Basketo Zone, known specifically for its close proximity to the capital city, Laska, and its unique cascading flow. Below is a detailed explanation of the waterfall:
1. Location and Distance
- Location: The waterfall is situated within the Basketo Zone.
- Distance: It is located approximately 4 kilometers from Laska, the zonal capital. Because it is much closer to the city than other falls (like Sirso and Verso), it is exceptionally convenient and easily accessible for visitors.
2. Natural Features and Beauty
- Height: Ocho Waterfall plunges from a rocky cliff over 40 meters high.
- Chained (Cascading) Descent: The most distinctive and beautiful feature of this waterfall is the “chained” series of smaller falls the water creates before reaching the main, large drop. This creates a tiered effect that is visually captivating.
- Environmental Beauty: The site is surrounded by lush green vegetation and natural rock formations, providing a refreshing atmosphere and clean air that offers visitors a peaceful retreat.
3. Visitor Amenities and Comfort
- Accessibility: Due to the short distance from Laska, it can be reached on foot without significant fatigue.
- Recreation Spot: The area is ideal for picnics and nature viewing. The sound of the water and the surrounding tranquility provide mental relaxation.
- Photography Attraction: The cascading smaller falls offer photographers a wide range of unique angles and beautiful frames.
