About Min-mona Cave
Nature and History
- Shelter and Fortification: Minmona Cave is primarily known as a historical defensive fort. In ancient times, the local community (the Burji people) used it to hide children and women and to defend themselves when facing war or invasion.
- Natural setting: The cave is naturally formed in a rocky landscape, and has large chambers inside. Some of the chambers are said to have the capacity to hold many people.
- Entrance doors: Like most defensive caves, Minmona Cave may have a narrow entrance and a wide interior. This structure would have made it difficult for enemies to easily enter.
Location
- The cave is located in the Burji zone, in a mountainous area not far from the capital Soyama.
